Greating value gaming laptop with great design

======= Summary ======= The Legion Y530 is a well-designed and performant laptop with only one shortcoming - no SSD hard drive. The build is great, the thin-bezel display is awesome, it contains great components, and is a pleasure to use everyday. With its easy upgradeability, the Y530 will offer many years of service for most people. *Pro's: 1. Thin display bezels. 2. Relatively light and thin for a gaming laptop. 3. Excellent keyboard and touchpad. 4. Good design & build quality (d...

Excellent Redesign. This Model Could be Improved.

Lenovo Legion Y530 (81FV0001US) Setup/Testing/Conclusion The Lenovo Legion Y530 (81FV0001US). Packed with an Intel i7 8750H, 8GB DDR4 2666 memory, and an Nvidia 4GB GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. Let’s go ahead and dive right in and see how this budget Gaming Laptop performs. Right off the bat, the Intel i7 8750H is an excellent CPU. Professional laptop or Gamer laptop? BOTH

So I have had this laptop for about a month now, and I wanted to find things wrong with it, because of the price point and what it says it could deliver. That was a battle of the ages, because I am very impressed with it. It is an ideal mix of professional laptop and gaming laptop. It would be overkill for a person needing a laptop to read emails and surf the web, but if you are looking at the contents of the laptop, this would be the one for you. PROS - Very thin for the power - FAST - Di...

Finally, Power and Portability in a Gaming Laptop

Design: The Lenovo Legion Y530 is a powerful laptop with a sleek design. This is my first gaming laptop, mostly because I had not found a good hybrid between gaming power and portability until now. I find it to be just thin and light enough to consider it portable, which is great because I am on the go quite often. Although color scheme is not a priority of mine, I like the subtle black exterior with a white illuminated keyboard and logo on the lid. Most of the ports are on the back of the lapt...

GOOD for the price BUT.....

I had this laptop for a week and so far this thing is pretty good. It is light compared to other laptop at 5 pounds. Since, the screen has small bezel, the laptop has smaller footprint. Screen : The screen is good compared to my brother's Dell G7. The brightness is around 255 nits which is higher than the G7. It is fairly sharper display. It is good enough for gaming. And, it does look good because of smaller bezel of the display. Hard Drive: It has 7200rpm hard drive which is very slower ...

no dual SO-DIMMs, no Optane, NO GO for 81FV0001US

This review focuses on the 81FV0001US build of Lenovo's Legion Y530 (81FV) gaming laptop. (I will be posting a far more detailed review of the 81FV000US2 build of the Legion Y530 elsewhere.) The 81FV0001US has these build distinctions: Intel Core-i7 8750H hexa-core CPU; 1x8GB (8GB as single-channel) Samsung, 2667MHz, DDR4, SO-DIMM (M471A1K3CB1-CTD); 1TB Seagate, 7200RPM, Barracuda Pro (ST1000LM049-2GH172), SATA 3.1 HD. [Aside from using the same CPU and SATA HD, the 81FV0001US is the signi...

Meeting Expectation

This is a study, good looking, and fast laptop. Definitely a good price for a introductory gaming computer. The resolution is great, and with I like the processing speed. It is heavy but sturdy. I've only had it for a week, and there is no heating/ventilation problem.

Best laptop for the money

To start out with let me say that previous Laptops that i have owned by Lenovo have been hit or miss. Always had that "gaming" red back lighting and generally would thermal throttle which affected performance drastically. This is definitely a step in the right direction for the gaming line of laptops. Pro's and Con's Right off the back the biggest pro for me was the form factor of this laptop. It is thin but not too thin that it would really impact the cooling performance or the structure of...

Quality Machine with One Issue

On first impression you’ll notice gaming laptop with a clean slick look void of all the overbearing “gamer” styling. The specs on this unit almost seem perfect – top tier 8th generation 6 core Intel I7, 8GB RAM, GTX 1050Ti, 144Hz 1080P screen… loaded to the tippy top to running most current mainstream games at reasonable frame rates. Putting this to the test, the Y530 scored a 3DMark score of 2,542 in Time Spy with a CPU score of 4,954. A VRMark score of 3,860 was achieved, meeting minimal pe...

Awesome laptop, Wish I could give it 5 stars.

Couple thoughts. -The keyboard is really REALLY good, which we've come to expect from Lenovo, however I dislike the number pad,.. A LOT. the layout is very odd. I'm still trying to figure it out. Mouse is pretty good too once settings have been adjusted to your liking, however mine cuts out occasionally for some odd reason. I sometimes have to disable/enable the touchpad (Fn + F11). -Upgraded to NVMe SSD, couldn't imagine going without. -Coming from an HP Omen 15, my speakers are super...
