I bought this ESATA 3TB hard drive to hook up to my Fios DVR. I opened the box, connected the eSata wire to the back of the Fios DVR, connected the other end to the hard drive. I connected the power cable, plugged into the wall. Turned on my TV and DVR. Software not compatible with Win 7
The drive works great, fast SATA connection instead of USB is a big plus. But I bought the drive in part for the "Never Down" software which is supposed to back up your system drive. It's "included" by which they mean it's not actually in the box, you have to download it. It wouldn't install and then Iomega told me it's not compatible with Windows 7 (which has been out for a long time now). I told them the box lists Windows 7 as being compatible, they said what that really means is it's compat...

Maybe best eSATA for price at time I bought it
I probably use this a little differently than most people. I have several computers and a network NAS (Synology DS109) that is used for central storage, so instead of backing up an individual computer, I am backing up my NAS. I had previously been backing up to a USB 2.0 drive that finally died. I was in desperate need of backing up my entire PC after a hardware failure. Nice external hard drive, but a bit noisy

Great hard drive
I've had this drive for about 3 weeks now, on day one I transferred about 500gigs to it via the esata and it was incredibly fast and didn't over heat. I've been transferring smaller files to it since and there's still no problems, a great drive

Great Drive, Would Recommend
As a photographer, I have a lot of RAW files to backup and I use this drive a couple times a week. I've owned it less than 6 months but so far, it works great. Fast and reliable with eSata connection.

Iomega eSata/USB 2TB external drive
The drive performs very well and very fast. The "included" software must be downloaded from the Iomega website, and there is no CD as mentioned in the documentation. This drive has very inadequate support by Iomega for Windows 7 64-bit OS and some of the software referred to by the documentation does not even exist for Windows 7 64-bit. crappy HD inside
The drive inside at the time of purchase is a 5400rpm rather than 7200rpm drive. Rip off in this day and age when a drive is advertising it's speed characteristics. It's a Samsung HD204UI.

Total Misrepresentation
I bought this drive as a principal backup device for a new Dell Vostro laptop. The Vostro has a dedicated eSATA port just for this purpose so I was looking specifically for a drive with this attribute. Several points to note:Advertised software (NeverDown) included with this drive does not exist for Win 7 32/64 bit OS and is not included in the box but has to be downloaded from the Iomega site.
