Excellent device and no longer going to use my scope (also G3 vs G5)
I just finished a trip to Myrtle Beach with the G3. It really made the rounds that much more enjoyable. I own a Bushnell Tour V2 scope and have preferred it in the past over GPS devices because of their simplicity and ability to get the distance to any target. Here are two reasons why I am going to only use the G3 from now on.1) If you can't see the target, you can't scope a distance. Let's say you are playing a course where you know there is water in front of the green over the ...

Better than Expected!
Have played a dozen rounds or so, and I love my new Garmin. At first it didn't have a particular course pre-loaded, but after downloading the quarterly update there it was! The Garmin was better than expected since some said the screen was not bright enough. But I have had no significant problems reading the unit in any lighting condition. Some have said they don't like that AAA batteries have to be used, but I believe that perceived negative is actually a feature! (since carrying...

Golf made easy
Bought this for my husband for father's day. I liked the fact that there is no annual fee however, we learned quickly that they may not be a good thing. My father has the golf caddy and can down load any golf course. The two of them went golfing and the Garmin only had one or two VT golf courses listed. It boasts of having over 10,000 courses but, it doesn't appear to have the course we need. They golfed in RI and ran into the same thing. So before you buy just make sure the golf course yo...

Great Product! I love it!
This review is from: Garmin Approach S1 Waterproof Golf GPS Watch (Electronics) I love this product. I've had the Skycaddie and the Garmin larger units andI didn't realize how much of a pleasure it would be not to have to go around to the side of the cart to look at the yardage. Also, the readout on the watch is a lot easier to see than the screens of the larger units. The guy complaining about the differences in yardage must be a very accurate golfer....

Garmin Approach G#
Shortly after I got my Garminapproach I discovered that one of the courses I play wasn't on the instrument. I called support and had to wait about 1/2 hour. That was bad but once I got someone to talk to things improved greatly. That person even spoke english!. She was very nice and quite helpful. It turned out that they were just about to update the program and when they did about 3 days later I automatically got an e-mail to download the updated version. I'd heartily recommend this produ...

Great new product
This review is from: Garmin Approach S1 Waterproof Golf GPS Watch (Electronics) This is the real deal and it will soon be the most popular range finder on the market. The courses are already pre-loaded so no need to download courses off the computer and pay extra fees. With a click of the button it identified the course I was playing while standing on the first tee. Simply glance at the watch to automatically get the front, middle and back yardage (you don't need the exact dista...

Think About What You Really Want!
I did a lot of research on golf GPS devices and finally settled on the Garmin Approach G3. I couldn't be happier with my decision. What I would recommend to anyone searching for a golf GPS device is to ask yourself: "What do I really want in a GPS device"? This is what helped me decide on which GPS device to buy. The main reason I purchased the G3 Approach is it is one of the easiest devices to use. When out on the course, the last thing I wanted to do is fool around with a device. I want...

Par or Sub Par? That is the Question.
I purchased the Garmin G3 for only two reasons. The price and lack of subscription. I got more than I paid for. The features of the G3 definitely give the average golfer the best bang for his (or her) buck. I read many reviews on many different GPS systems. Initially, the GPS that I was leaning toward most is the SkyCaddie SGX, but when I considered the price and subscription cost of the SGX the Garmin became that much more attractive. I learned my lesson trying to go from an automotive Garmin G...

Highly recommended
I upgraded from a Igolf Neo golf gps to the Garmin Approach G3. Overall, I'm very impressed with 2 weeks solid usage. I did purchase the Onpar golf gps but returned it. Has a slight learning curve, but when playing with a group of players you don't have the time to select all the features. However, the G3 approach is fantastic. No more fees to pay and no downloading courses. Just turn it on, give it 3-5 minutes and pulls all local courses into the G3. It would of been nice to get the G5 Ap...
