Great quality but not worth the price

These binoculars have extremely high image quality. They are sharp, bright and clear. However, I also have a pair of cheaper Fujinon Mariner binoculars (about $150). For outdoor use, I can't tell the difference in image quality. I don't think that this is a negative for the FMTR-SX, rather it says something very positive about Fujinon binoculars generally. The FMTR-SX has a much higher build quality and are heavy. If you want high quality binoculars for casual use, the cheaper Fujinon may ...

As good or better than Zeiss or Leica

The Fujinon 7X50 FMTF-SX Polaris binoculars use porro prisms, so they are large and heavy binoculars (3.3 lbs / 1.52kg). I'd not want to carry them except on short hikes: I call them "car or boat binoculars".Size and weight aside, they're easy on the eyes and have deep depth of view (more on that below)— fantastic as far as viewing pleasure goes:The deep depth of view afforded by the porro prism design is a huge advantage— much less fiddling with focus for minor distance changes. The 23mm of eye ...

Fujinon 7X50 FMTR-SX

I've had a pair of these binoculars for over 20 years and never been disappointed. When one of the attached lens caps straps broke I decided to get new pair of binoculars. After researching available military spec binoculars with the same power I decided to order another Fujinon pair. They have served me well and were half the price of my next choice. Later I contacted Fujion about the broken attachment strap on the old lens caps and was able to order replacement parts after over 20 years. Simpl...

Better than Expected

These are very highly rated binoculars at a very dear price. We bought them to replace a 15 year old set of binocs for our boat. We were a bit skeptical that they would be worth the price, on arrival, we were delighted. They are wonderfully made. A throw back to optics we once saw in the last century. The brightness and sharpness of the images are astounding. Looking through the old binocs was like looking through dirty water. We are delighted. Worth every penny, and of course B and H p...

I bought my first FTR-SX (or close to that) in 1987 and use these on a small sailing yeacht. There is no question that this tool has saved my bacon on board at least twice (and I mean hazardous conditions). Were I to do it again, I'd go with as close to these as possible, but it would certainly be Fujinon.

Beautifully executed optical instrument

Well, I got these about a year ago from B&H or the other big retailer in NYC, I don't remenber, and I have to say I am not disappointed. This is a first class binocuar when it comes to fit and finish, and sharpness at the center of the image. Unfortanetely, I must admit that this is not a flat field binocular as advertised by its F moniker in the FMT designation. The image goes drastically out of focus towards the edges. Notheless, I'd still recommend this binocular to anyone who admires fi...

One of the very best for night time use

[...]But if you are looking for quality I recommend these. They are the best bins I have used for astronomy and my fellow UK based astronomers agree, especially as I live in light polluted skies on the edge of London. The brightness of the image is immediately obvious and the wide field is flat. The eyepieces have large lens and are very comfortable with good eyerelief. As they are a little heavy, I use mine on a tripod. Definitely worth the money new and are price competitive to brands such a...

best 7x50s I've seen

I had the 10x70 FMT-SX binoculars so thought I'd try the little brother....these are great! Best 7X50 binocular I've come across...equal to or better than my Steiner Military 538 model. You won't be sending these back!!
