ElectronicsExpo SUCKS!!!!

I purchased a Denon AVR 1707 (Electronics Expo) didn't realize the AVR did not have and HDMI connection, so I decided to return immediately the next day I received it. To return the item, they are charging me 20% restocking fee which I think is not acceptable. They suck, even the person I was talking to was rude. I definitely will not make anymore business with Electronics Expo and most definitely Amazon. There's my piece of mind, I know this is a bad review, I hope it gets published.

Surreal Surround Sound

Not being electronically inclined, I admit to having some trouble setting up and learning all the functions of this receiver (and there are many!) However, once I had it going, it has not stopped. Not only is the sound crisp and clear, the bass is a nice warm low and the highs are stunningly present. The surround sound (SACD and DTS) is a marvel. The instruments literally sound as if they are positioned at certain points of the room as in a real recording studio. It is that real. Although ...

Excellent receiver for the money.

I have this receiver powering KEF 3005 speakers and it is fantastic. Denon has some of the best surround processing available to the average consumer and this player is no exception. For less than $500, this receiver is an excellent choice for those looking to build a semi-affordable component system.I am also running a Denon 3805 in my main room and although the 1707 has less features and less power, it is more than adequate.

Excellent Dolby Digital Performance

The receiver is a little harder to set up than some others I've set up recently, but you shouldn't have too much trouble if you're handy with electronics. The auto-setup feature is a plus if you're not into setting your own speaker levels. The receiver and the remote look good, but the remote is confusing and lacks learning functions, making it mostly useless for anything other than the basics. I wouldn't recommend trying to use it as your primary system remote. Where the receiver pays off is au...

Denon AVR-1707

I will begin this review by saying if you purchase this receiver be sure to use the audio setup as instructed in the manuel. Do not try to configure this on your own. It took me 10 days to get this working correctly so I want to be sure to get that straight from the begining. Apart from that I have been pleased with this purchase. I would recommend to anyone that has an A/V configuration that supports HDMI to upgrade to the nearest reciever. I had to use a digital optical cable to my tv due...

Beauty in Sound

This was a great purchase. The Denon AVR-1707 sounds awesome! It is clear without extra noise. Only complaint: it was a little difficult to set up, even for a stereo buff.

Denon avr - 1707 Solid performing AV receiver

This is a solid AV Receiver with audio and video reproduction that is very clean and life like. Setup was not as difficult as was reported. Music CD's are reproduced in surround that sounds as if the instruments are in my AV room. Movies are also much more enjoyable with audio and video that I would expect in a much more expensive AV receiver. I would highly recommend this Denon AV receiver.

Great non-hdmi receiver

I was looking for a good receiver to replace my Yamaha HTR-5150. I loved the Yamaha, but it was aging and only had composite and s-video inputs with no upconversion, and only 2 non-assignable digital audio inputs. I didn't need anything with hdmi, since I have an analog big screen tv and no plans to update to digital (and by the time I finally have to the standards will have changed again anyway). I got this on a really good deal at 1/2 the original price, since the new models have hdmi, and I j...

Great sound, but a complex machine

I hooked this up about a week ago and the sound is incredible for something within this price range. The automatic set-up it performs with the microphone is amazing to watch and is invaluable in getting the thing up and running. This automatic configuration process will even alert you if it thinks you might have the positive and negative terminals incorrectly hooked up to your speakers. If you have to set it up manually, be prepared to spend some time and effort. This is a complicated machin...

DO NOT EVER BUY DENON< UNLESS YOU LIKE PUNISHMENT

We purchased a Denon A/R (receiver)..The machine broke down in 13 months !Yes,Denon is overpriced junk ..We called Denon headquarters in Mahwah, New Jersey . The automated line told us we had a wait time of almost 2 hours !! We obviously did NOT wait in line ..We asked for the president's name - We got hung up on 3 times as the receptionist would not give us the name !! The garbage was under warranty, we sent it to a Denon authorized service station in California on Feb 16th ..The machine ...
