Ignore the other reviews and LISTEN to this stereo

First of all, I don't know why anyone would say this product is confusing. I'm no tech wiz, and I didn't need to consult the manual for basic operation. Programming in stations wasn't hard either. But even so, this is a fairly picayune matter considering that a receiver is a device for listening to music (and other audio sources) and should be evaluated as such. What matters most is sound quality, and this receiver sounds excellent. No, it's not an audiophile product, but it's probabl...

had to replace my 25+ year onkyo receiver. it served me well. i looked around and, not being in the stereo market for awhile, chose to listen to the input provided by the best buy representative. i told him i was just looking for a stereo receiver without all the bells and whistles, and oh yeah, it must have a phono input! still gettin my vinyl groove on. anyway, he told me this receiver was by far the best in its' price range. we gave it a test run, and i was impresed with the quality this rece...

Great Old School Sound!!

If there is one thing I learned about receivers, is pick one for the correct application. I purchased a 5.1 receiver to power my 2 Cerwin Vega 12'' speakers. The sound was not that great, meaning there was no depth. I had 13 year old Denon 2 channel receiver that sounded amazing and thought a 5 channel receiver would sound just as good if you put it in stereo mode..I was wrong. I went looking all over and finally found this DRA-397 from Denon. I hooked it up to my speakers and let me tell you ho...

Outstanding Receiver!

I have been an audiophile for over 40 years. I think I know my stuff, and I KNOW I can tell a low distortion signal when I hear it.This receiver is awesome. The THD (.008%) is so low I can hardly hear any imperfection in music, even at high volumes. I am driving a pair of old Advents, and they sound terrific. (The fact that this receiver is stable with 4 ohm speakers is a big plus for me.)Rise time is fast (quick pulses of bass sound great), and high frequency response...

Not as good as Yamaha

This unit was purchased to replace a Yamaha Receiver and tuner we had for over 20 years. The sounds is okay but does not seem to be as clear. In addition it is difficult to read the labels on the receiver and the way you turn it on is very awkward. After you select CD/Tuner etc. the system no longer lights up what system it is working. I have to say I am disappointed in the Denon system. I had already purchased a Denon CD player and it was also much more difficult to operate than the Yamaha. I...

Seems to have it all..except HDMI

This unit sounds good, even with my cheap speakers, so reading other reviews, I imagine it would sound great with great speakers.I had no problem setting it up. The speaker connections are irritating, but that is a ten minuet pain that I got over.

Not impressed

I got this receiver because I have had Denon amps for years. Don't bother with this receiver. Mine has never worked right. It took several tries to get an I-pod dock that worked, then it would just cut out during normal use. I was told it was due to overheating but this could happen after three mins. of use or three hours... so in my opinion it was not a heat related issue. When it was about 7 months old it blew the outputs due to a faulty heat sensor... it was sent to United Radio for repairs a...

I'm impressed!

I purchased this receiver to replace a JVC RX-503 (along with a JVC CD player and Cerwin-Vega speakers) I bought from Crutchfield about 20 years ago. Along with the receiver, I purchased a Denon DCM-390 CD player and a pair of Polk Audio Monitor 70 speakers. I can't get over how clear this system sounds. The soundstage is incredible. Clean highs and tight bass make for a very enjoyable listening experience. Thanks Crutchfield for yet another wonderful stereo system!

Best Receiver Ever!

I have two speakers costing over $4000.00 for a pair that are very accurate. I have had other receivers conected to my speakers costing ten times what this one cost and none sounded better. I have spent 50 years performing live music and this receiver delivers high end attack but with great tone quality. I can now hear sutle instruments that I never heard before. No tone adjustment needed on my speakers. Pleanty of clean power to feel the emotional highs and lows. It has a pure power mode that I...

Nice piece of equipment

I have had this receiver for 2 years and am very happy. We paired it up with a Polk Audio surround speaker set including subwoofer to compliment our integrated home audio system which required dual zones.
