After a lot of research I decided to go with the Denon AVR890. I recently set up my media room with a HD projector and have a 105" screen and wanted something that could upconvert everything to 1080p. I am extremely satisfied with this AV receiver as I can run just one HDMI cable from the receiver to the projector and it upconverts everything.A few downsides I have is the price compared to other brands, I think I could have gotten more for the money, but hey it's a denon. No THX, which I used to...

I purchased a Bose V-20 and after several weeks I returned it because it just didn't seem to have power I wanted. I exchanged the Bose for the Denon 890 and got back over a $1,000. The Denon has 5 HDMI inputs which I found very useful. I love the sound I get. It just took a long time to get everything to work the way I wanted. The user manual is very difficult to understand and the remote is almost as bad. I still haven't figured out how to use everything on the remote. I have no idea wha...

Great product overall but I was very disappointed to find out the zone 2 can only handle an analog input. This is useless for Apple TV which only has digital outputs. Essentially, the only thing I can list to in zone 2 is the radio. There was no mention of this in the specs I read and it was only when I got to the small print in the instruction manual that I realized. Very disappointing on the part of Denon.Aside from that, it is a great product. I was just really disappointed with the zone ...

Solid AV Receiver with Great feature set.

I have had this AV receiver for four months or so now and have a chance to get used to it. I like it alot. It has plenty of power and if you do not want to run two zones (stereo signal to amp speakers in another room) you can bi-amp your front speakers. I have it hooked up to two Polk Monitor 70 towers for my main speakers, a CS2 center channel from Polk and two older Sony speakers for the surrounds. I love it. I had a chance to listen this and compared it to a higher end Pioneer and my ears lik...

Excellent Receiver

I have had this Denon receiver now for over a month and I can report that I am extremely happy and satisfied with all the performance aspects of this unit. I bought this to replace my aging Pioneer Elite receiver that was over 9 years old. I was looking for a new receiver that would handle all my connections (including HDMI) and provide me the processing power (audio and video) needed for any near future requirements. I just recently bought a Blu-ray player and changed from Comcast to At&t U-ver...

Let me reiterate what the other reviewers have said and add my own lament. I have owned a wide range of stereo equipment over the years and in the past I was very happy with Denon. Recently after about fifteen years of party music and blockbuster explosions my Denon AVR1010 finally died. I was very happy with the unit both in sound quality and features so another Denon was a no brainer. My old remote had about fifty buttons which at first I didn't like but now I miss greatly.Denon has always be...

I bought this unit because denon is renowned for quality and the positive reviews on it. Sorry to say it was a DOA. To make matters worse the company that sold it, onsale, jerked me around for almost 2 weeks and I had to get amazon involved to get them to make it right, sort of. I asked for a swap, give me a working unit. After almost 2 weeks of arguing and getting the runaround, amazon stepped in and I recieved an email for a refund. Not what I asked for but it's better than getting screwed ove...

Great Receiver, plenty of power

I have had this reciever hooked up for 24 hours and love it so far. I went from an older avr-787 which I'm moving to my bedroom, to this one for the new HDMI upconversions. My system contains 2 Infinity floor standing speakers which has 3: 6.5" mids, 1:4" mid, and a tweeter; 2 rear in-ceiling Infinity's, and a self amplified 12" JBL 600 watt sub. I bi-amped the floor speakers to get their full potential. This receiver has finally brought out the awesome sound of my Infinity floor speakers. I hav...

Excellent!

I bought this to replace my Sony 5.1 boxed set I bought at Costco which I was never happy with but living in a loft I thought it might be OK. I kept my Sony 5.1 speakers for now but bought the Denon receiver. The setup with the microphone was easy and the sound is incredible. (I'm sure my neighbor's don't appreciate). Easy to set up with my Logitech Harmony One. Perfect combination. My iPod sounds incredible, Apple airport extreme, TV, Sony BluRay, PS3 and Wii most connected with the 5, yes 5, H...
