Very impressive for the price

This low end Denon may be much cheaper in price to bigger siblings, but it delivers the same amazing sound that all Denon receivers are known for. I purchased this receiver as part of a cheap 2.0 setup using JBL towers. I have had this receiver for a month now, and it has performed amazingly so far, even better than expected. The clarity of the sound is great, it has sturdy inputs(both audio and video), and operates smoothly. It is very transparent and does not color ...

Superb Sound - Great Price

I've had the 391 for a couple of days now and am very impressed. While I did consider the 591 and other models in the current Denon line, I've been on a simplicty kick here recently and have been seeking out high quality components that give me the features I really want without the added cost and complications of the features that I do not want. My main pre-purchase concern was that a receiver at this price point, even from Denon, would sound underpowered and thin. ...

All the features you need, in one AVR. Best entry-level AVR out there. Highly recommended.

This is the best Entry level AVR out there in the market and the first one from Denon in 2010 model line-up and I have to say that this beast is packed with all the essential feature, an entry-level AVR must have. Not all of us need a 8.1 channel Surround Sound system, but this 5.1 channel Surround Sound system can be extended to include two addition preouts for Surround Back channels at an amazing price point. This AVR sports four HDMI 1.4a (with 3D support) inputs plus it has built-in decoders...

Great for the price

This was very easy to set up so I am not sure about the complaints on that. Has great sound, especially for the price. Have not had the freezing issues others have had. I am running a Wii, PS3, DirectTV and BlueRay through the HDMI ports and it makes it easy to switch from one to another. I am very happy with the purchase.

Amazing sound for your money!!

I have recently purchased this unit to replace my 7 year old sony. I wanted something cheap and it had to have hdmi, since everything seems to be going in that direction these days. I have always herd good things about Denon, but I never expected this kind of clarity from the same jbl speakers i used with my old sony. one feature that surprised me was that this receiver also supports 7.1 through pre-outs. i was able to use the old sony receiver to power my surround back channels to get 7.1 surro...

Good Entry Level Receiver

The Denon AVR 391 does not have a lot of bells and whistles, but if you are looking for a high quality receiver at a reasonable price, you could do a lot worse. This unit has four HDMI ports on the back...and that's about it. It doesn't have any component hookups. It has a few composite connections for audio and video. It also has a few digital audio connections (coaxial and optical). It does not upconvert analog video to 1080p. If you can live without a few of these features you will like...

Mine Freezes Up Too

I just bought the Denon AVR-391 and almost immediately encountered the same problem as another person has reported, namely that the unit becomes disabled and, though on, will not permit any adjustments nor even use of the ON/OFF button. When I unplug and plug the unit back in, it works normally for a while, until eventually exhibiting the same problem again. Needless to say, I am returning it tomorrow and will not be buying another Dennon product. Once considered one of the better quality audio ...
