Great buy

Spotted this radio in Target first, and had to get it. Looks fantastic - quality retro look plus the sound to match. Sound has depth and clarity. Dial fine tunes and it's easy to tune to those stations that are sometimes hard to get. Powerful little thing. If you appreciate simplicity, this is it! Plug in and you're happy!

Sound, reseption, design!!!

My first impression was design. It is really good looking radio. Analog tuning is smooth and heavy, very sensitive and enjoyable to operate. Telescopic antenna is very effective and convenient compare with wire the other table radio like Boston Acoustic. FM is impressive, very clear and smooth. Sound is very detailed with bright fidelity of definition. I have enjoyed to listening jazz, classical music, but it is individual. Compare with Boston Acoustic, Crosley Solo has more rough bass than Bost...

Powel Crosley is spinning in his grave.....

I found this radio (brown walnut version) - new in the box - at an antique store for $20. It had obviously been an unused and unappreciated Christmas gift for I found bits of wrapping paper still taped to the bottom of the box and the contents had never even been removed from the plastic wrappings. One thing you won't find out about until you open the box is the HUGE external power supply that comes with this radio. No where is this behemoth mentioned in any of the descriptions I've seen online....

Thrilled! long range champ

When I think of the money I've spent on high-end receivers, its just ironic that this cute little inexpensive thing delivered so much better performance, it made everything else sound like junk. Its currently connected to a hi-fi class amplifier that cost 21 times more than this little receiver.I liked the Crosley Solo so much because of its ability for cleaner performance from distant stations--and all of the stations are distant from my house. The easy way: Try this with headp...

too much base

I too like the look and design of this radio/amp. I wanted it for a couple months but waited until I got it for Christmas. I was excited until I turned it on and heard the very strong base on FM stations, and more disappointed that it has no tone/base knob or adjustment. AM radio and plugged in iPods are fine because you can control the EQ, but it takes some adjusting. For morning NPR listening while making breakfast, I don't need something that reverberates through walls at low levels. Returnin...

Nice radio

I saw the black radio in the local Target store and thought it was really a beauty, and what a radio used to be (I'm a ham radio operator). What I really like about it is that it is continuously tune-able. If there is a heterodyne from a neighboring station, I can tune away from the noise. The sound is wonderful.I was surprised and a little disappointed to see that the radio runs with an external power supply that converts the house AC voltage to 12 Volts DC. The power ...

Blast from the past

I got this radio at Target. I was unable to find a radio that would work in our boarding kennel, a huge old building with aluminum siding and a tin roof. I read reviews on several radios, and decided to try this one. I put it in a 50'x40' windowless room with an extremely high ceiling. I was amazed!!! It picks up about 30 fm stations with the built in antenna and the sound is absolutely incredible. It fills the room and is crisp and solid sounding... rivals my Bose that I use at home. Non...

Great for an hour or so...

I purchased this radio for use in my workshop. As far as size, features, and sound quality are concerned, this really fit the bill. I really like the manual tuning, the collapsible antenna that doesn't force you to string a wire one around everywhere, the simple functions, and the AUX input for my iPod. Sound quality was great for such a small radio. Aesthetics were great as well. Now the bad part. First, the power supply is MASSIVE. It kind of defeats the purpose of getting a s...

Stellar sound!

I am very happy with this product. It's simple, easy to operate, has great sound, and takes up little room - what more could you ask? I found the bass pleasing, not overdone, and those who complained of massive outlet connections seem in my view to be exaggerating. I also liked the fact that it is American-made - a rarity these days!
