Celestron Granite 10X50 binoculars

As a retired NASA photographer I have used different binoculars for years. Recently my Celestron 7X56 binoculars had the outside surface of the binoculars crack and completely deteriorate. It was several years before I found the guarantee for them, a CELESTRON LIFE TIME WARRANTY!I sent them to Celestron asking for a comparable pair of binoculars. They no longer manufacture the 7X56's. They sent me the Granite 10X50 binoculars and I was stunned. They cost almost three times what the original bino...

Celestron 8x42 Granites

I first saw the Granite binoculars at the British BirdFair. I was very impressed and when I returned to the States I acquired a pair. I am an active birder and I love the Granites. They are not a true compact binocular but they are relatively small and light weight. The image is bright and clear all the way to the edge of the lenses. They have a wide field of view, over 400 ft, and a close focus distance of 6.5 feet - good for birders. Image quality and brightness very comparable to much mor...

Don't be fooled by the low price for this item

First of all, I must state that I am particularly pleased with the great selection and the top class service from Amazon. I have been an Amazon customer for several years now and this is my very first review. Thanks to those who had sent in their reviews which had guided me in the past. I wish to contribute with my own first review. This is an exceptionally top class performer. It is light in weight, feels very good in the hands, top quality and the image is exceptionally good for its low price....

Celestron Granite Series 7x33

This is specifically about the 7x33 variant of the Celestron Granite Series, evaluated in May, 2015. (I have no experience with other models of the series.)I own many binoculars already, from midrange pairs to alpha glass, but I was attracted to the 7x33 because it has one of the largest field of views (FOV) available in a binocular. The only other comparable FOV's that I am aware of are the Zen-Ray 7x36 and its sibling, the Eagle Optics Atlas 7x36.Unfortunately, after getting the diopter adjus...

Clear, sharp, bright

As of now, Amazon cites a list price for the Celestron 10x42 Granite Binocular that is considerably higher than Celestron's list price, which can be found at Celestron's site. (Update, 10/15/13: See Alfalfa's comment below.) While this in no way reflects on the quality and value of the Granite, it might be of interest to someone considering buying it as a gift.To give you a sense of the physical size of this binocular, with the interpupillary distance adjusted to the widest point, the lens and e...

Incredible performance especially for the price

I have been a serious birder for several decades and have owned many pairs of binoculars including a few that have cost more than a thousand dollars. I currently use my Canon 12x36 Image Stabilization and my Leica 10x42 pairs the most. When I got a chance to own this pair I was a little concerned that they might not be something that I would want to carry with me, even as a back-up for my back-ups. Boy was I wrong!Right out of the box I was impressed with the feel and design of these binoculars....

Great optics, highly portable, and very rugged

I am a big fan of the Celestron SkyMaster Giant 15x70 Binoculars with Tripod Adapter. The SkyMaster is one of the best scopes for backyard astronomy, with its 15x magnification, 4.67mm exit pupil, clear images, and absolutely amazing pricing. However, it has one "huge" downside. Yes, that pun was intended - it is a huge pair of binoculars that clocks in at 48 oz/1361g. In other words, you shouldn't even consider it unless you have a tripod. My kids have never been comfortable with holding it,...

The Celestron Granite Binocular is the Spartan Beast in comparison to the competition ...

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I own and have reviewed several pairs of binoculars, but by far the Celestron Granite Binoculars are the movers and shakers in their price range. If you are a birder, outdoorsman, or are working on your survivalist skills, the Celestron experience is one you might want to consider. There's a lot of power in these binoculars, but the lightweight magnesium body was a real plus when I was outside working with these today. If you are into...

Incredible optics

As an outdoor enthusiast and backyard astronomer, I own many pairs of binoculars or various sizes and quality. Most of them are mid-prices Japanese optics such as Nikon or budget priced models made by Celestron. The Celestron Granite Binoculars are my first pair of truly higher end binoculars. After using them for only a day, all I can say is "Wow". The "Fully Broadband Multi-Coatings" make all the difference in the world. Image sharpness from edge to edge is unmatched compared to any of my oth...

Great binoculars for the price!

This review is specifically about the Granite 7x33 binoculars. ---- I am a White Tail deer hunter and have always been interested in low power binoculars for hunting in generally thick terrain and foliage at reasonably close ranges of no more than 300 to 400 yards. Including the Granite 7x33 binoculars, I own a total of four pair of binoculars all of different brand names, two of which are 6 power and two are 7 power. With the exception of the Granite binoculars, the other three pair have a cost...
