A must for your dSLR

What's great about it: Fast, powerful, wireless option A hotshoe flash is a must for a dSLR camera to get the best pictures, especially if you are going to do any kind of indoor photography or long distance shots outside. I find this one to be the best one for my 60D. It is not as large as the 580, and since the 60D can be a wireless flash controller I don't need the 580 to be a command unit for that either. The construction is rugged and the case is nice ballistic nylon and fits it well. Thes...

Great flash for amateur / beginner

What's great about it: Ease of use Works great for me - much better results than the built in flash on my T2i. I am a beginnner and it was easy to set up and start using immediately. Great to use the bounce feature. I took it to a wedding where a family member is a pro photographer. He was impressed by the flash and showed me some tricks like bringing down the power for less intense lighting. I am not one to want to have to study how to use items like this - just want to plug and play. This fl...

External flash a necessity

What's great about it: Beautiful results with little effort--almost instant gratification! What's not so great: When taking vertical shots, can't bounce flash with unit attached to camera. The Speedlight is easy to use and greatly improved the quality of my flash pictures when I needed professional quality. I don't tend to use flash a lot, but after testing the Canon T2I for about a week with just the built-in flash, I went right back to the store to get the Speedlight. The bounce flash mode a...

Must have for DSLR

What's great about it: Instant improvement in photos What's not so great: N/A As an amatuer, I'm always looking for ways to improve my photos. I finally decided to spend the money on this flash and I'm convinced it is the single best purchase I've made in addition to the camera itself. The improvements in picture quality, especially when "bounced" off the wall or cieling or both, is amazing. If lighting and composition make a great photo, then this will take you at least half way the...

Works well off-camera

I don't understand the complaints that this flash won't work off-camera or that it's large. Among professional flash units, it's actually rather compact. Also, I shoot with it off-camera frequently. As a weddings shooter, I'm frequently shooting vertically, such as when the bride is escorted to the alter. But shooting vertically places the flash to the side of the lens rather than above resulting in ugly shadows to the bride's side. So here's the solution. First, purchase a "flipable" ...

Great Flash, well worth the price

What's great about it: Recycle time. Ease of use. Elevation and rotation ability of the flash What's not so great: No flaws If you want a flash that you will be happy with, this is it. This flash has a very quick recycle time. It has the ability to throw light in many directions, changing the look and feel of your picture. This flash increases your ability to create the effects you want. I thought the flash was a little expensive...but I found that it was worth every penny.

Makes an Incredible Difference

What's great about it: Easy to use, versatile What's not so great: ? I have enjoyed my Canon Rebel since acquiring it a few years ago, but did not realize how limited my range was with the built in flash. The difference in having a flash attachment for indoor and night time shots is significant enough, the ability to swivel the flash in any direction and bounce light off another surface opens up many more possibilities! An essential accessory for a good DSLR!

Great add-on. A must have.

I am new to DSLRs and to photography in general. I soon noticed proper lighting had become a problem, specially indoors. This speedlite gives you instant bang for the buck. In just a few clicks the results will be inf front of you. For an amateur like me seeing the quality of my photographs increase exponentially with little to no effort makes this purchase justified.

Love it!

What's great about it: powerful, can use as wireless What's not so great: price is high, buttons, no battery pack I am a serious amateur photographer, and got this for my T3i to use as a fill-flash (built in flash is pretty much useless unless you are right on top of your subject). It was expensive, but I am looking to take my photography to that next level, and a good flash is definitely needed. I had no idea that I could do so much with this flash. The manual is worth it's weight in gold, re...

I would buy again, with caution

This is a great little flash with a fast recycle time, variable angle, and good manual control. It has worked great for what I've done (portraits). The 2 big cons I've seen so far are:1. Cannot be in Master mode with ETTL. You must have the 580EX II as a master. The 430EX II can only be a slave.2. No PC connection for triggering using an RF trigger. It is a great little flash, just beware of these limitations.
