I actually have a less powerful binocular than this one, but it is the Bushnell Permafocus technology. I can't even begin to describe how amazing it is to never have to focus your binoculars. You just look through, and whatever you're looking at, regardless of distance (except very close-up), is in focus! It's like a camera auto-zoom. My husband wears glasses with a rather strong prescription, and he can see perfectly clearly through these binoculars without his glasses. He just takes them ...

Good for brightly lit subjects if you're young, have 20-20 vision, and both eyes are the same

This review is from: Bushnell 8 x 32 Permafocus Binocular (Sports) These things work by setting the focus to infinity and reducing the opening on the ocular (eye piece) side. That maximized the range of distances that are in focus and reduces the amount of light that gets in. The result is a slightly dimmed and more possibly in focus image. For noon-time football or other midday activities it's OK. Of indoor things like plays or evening activities, not so much. I...

The Bushnell Perma Focus binoculars are a godsend to my wife. They are extremely useful to me but they are not for everyone. They are not a one-size-fits-all, all -purposes binoculars. They are exceptionally useful for people who have trouble using (focusing & adjusting) binoculars who want to look at things at 25 plus yards away. For fast actions sports from up in the stands, like football, NASCAR, track and field they are what you need. Scanning the shores from cruise ships, whale watching, a...

I purchased the bushnell permafocus binocs several years ago well knowing the trade-offs involving the permafocus feature. Owning other optical equipment such as astronomical use binoculars and telescopes allows me to make an informed opinion. I'll start with the drawbacks: The optics are good but not top of the line quality by any means and because of that you'll see a significant drop-off of clarity toward the outermost edges of the field of view. Secondly, objects closer than 50' or so away a...

Although these binoculars are not at thier best in close, the long range view more than adequately makes up for any shortcomings. For objects at a distance, I can think of no other binocular that has as crisp an image, or as wide a field of view. Also, they are a pleasure to pick up and have an instant view without the delay in having to focus them. The rugged, rubber encased, no slip frame are one of the most "ergonomically correct" pair of glasses that I have ever used. The only downside I see ...

8x35 Too Powerful

This review is from: Bushnell 8 x 32 Permafocus Binocular (Sports) FIRST OF ALL, IT'S REPREHENSIBLE THAT AMAZON THROWS ALL OF THESE TOGETHER. DIFFERENT BINOCULARS WITH DIFFERENT POWERS HAVE DIFFERENT REVIEWS.7x35: These binoculars have low enough power to give acceptable results.7x50: Probably the best of the Perma-series. Bright image, low enough power.8x32: Unacceptable power. Blurry images compounded by darker image.8x50: Blurrier image. Poor dep...

Not all of the Permafocus Binoculars are this good, but these are fantastic. If you tire easily of adjusting the focus, you won't believe your eyes when you look through these. I have used these on the lake, baseball games and on the golf course. My son dropped a pair on the concrete and misaligned one lens. Luckily I had already purchased another pair and just had to return to the car to get them. I am writing this review because I am looking to buy yet another pair.Buy and enjoy! You'll be gla...

I love these!

This review is from: Bushnell Perma Focus 8x 25mm Binoculars (Electronics) These binocs are very similar to the ones they replaced that cost 5x as much. The old ones got tossed because they were showing a double image after living in my backpack for 2 years or so. The Bushnells may or may not have the quality of optics that the more expensive units did but the "Permafocus" or infinite depth focus makes it so you just pick them up and look. If what you are looking at is furthe...

Great!

This review is from: Bushnell Perma Focus 8x 25mm Binoculars (Electronics) These are great for fast action sporting or even bird watching. I got them for my 4 year old son to use at the Georgia football games. He has a hard time with focus. These work great because all he has to do is look and it there. The size is nice and we have no problem adjusting from his size to mine. Ours came from an Amazon partner... Optic planet... I think. And they were great as well. Super fast ship...

We work in Yellowstone National Park for the summer season. We had met many park visitors that were using perma focus optic devices and decided to get one for ourselves. We determined that tne Bushnell was the best value available for our needs. Then, we shopped Amazona and saved 40%. Also, delivery was simple, the merchandise was shipped directly to our campground. The perma focus allow was to scan for wildlife far and near our car as we drive through the park or as we view nature from an overlo...
