Good price, uneven performance.
This unit was supposed to be roughly equivalent to the escort 9500ix, except it can not automatically update itself on speed traps or locations to ignore-like a store, which can be done manually. I paid 300 for it,well below advertised retail price. I am disappointed in the range, as sometimes I am in sight of a radar unit before it alerts. Other times it warns in time. The top rated distance champ is $500 (Escort Redline). Big difference for me. I expected better.

No good
Right out of the box it never worked at all. It was stuck in USB mode and could not be reset.

Saved my butt many times!
For the past year, I've been driving 150 mi round-trip to work, three days a week, 95% freeway miles.With those miles, I tend to be one of the quicker drivers, and this thing is amazing! At least in California, K and X band tend to be alarm systems or other building installations, and you can have the detector memorize those so they don't repeat. Ka and laser though, tend to be CHP. I've picked up Ka band over a mile away, over moderate hills, and around corners! Lots of times, it'll be a CHP

IF only!!
As in - IF ONLY I'D MADE THIS MY FIRST DETECTOR. This product is well worth the $$. I have owned SEVERAL other radar detectors (all between $150 and $250). None of the previous ones actually prevented my getting a ticket.I did a lot of research prior to buying this one and - had it down to the escort/valentine or this (even the GX65 over the pro300 and 500). The reason being is that most reviews had this dectector having much better range of detection than the others. I have found this to be

Awesome has saved me!
This radar is a saver!!! I've been notified with enough warning to slow down immediately. The only thing is some of the motorcycles carry a different lazar that my radar doesn't catch. For the most part it catches most of them. I like that it identifies red stop lights and you can program the radar to remember the location. I have used many radars and this one has been the best one so far!
