Excellent little machine for a great price!

I discovered the Averatec Buddy by accident, when visiting Circuit City for the new HP Mini last month. I had every intention of picking up the Mini for $450, but I happened to notice the Buddy just sitting there, looking very attractive. It doesn't have the nifty case design or the smaller profile of the Mini, but it packs a lot of power and functionality in a little case.Out of the box, the Averatec Buddy booted quickly and worked great. It had no bloat and ran Win XP perf...

I love this netbook!

I've tried both the Acer Aspire One and the Lenovo S10 and returned both of them. The Acer screen was to small and to hard to upgrade the ram, etc. and the Lenovo got very hot. Doing side by side comparisons at a electronics store I went with the Adveratec Buddy because the screen was bigger and brighter than even the Lenovo and the keyboard was bigger too. The webcam the Averatec Buddy was much better than on the others too. Even though it has a 1.3 megapixel webcam just like the Lenovo it mu...

Even More Than I Had Hoped

This is really an MSI Wind clone. I wanted something light and still powerful. This certainly fits the bill. The screen is bright and just big enough. I added another gig of RAM and the machine is certainly quick. I may ramp up the HD to 320 gigs, though the stock 160 gig HD is hefty. The Intel Atom processor lives up to its stellar reputation. The battery runs out rapidly. You need to upgrade. I bought an 8-hour battery for $80. That takes the machine from good to great. For the mone...

Excellent -- totally worth it.

I had an Acer Aspire one for a few weeks and it was so slow. I exchanged it for an Averetec and LOVE it! IT's cute, fast, and very portable. I wish it came with a case like the Acer did, but I wouldn't trade it just for that reason.

I got one of these Averatec netbooks for the lightweight portability. After researching the different netbooks out there this one seemed to have the best options and price. I was pleased with it for about six days until the battery stopped working. Comp USA has some great customer service but I misplaced my reciept so I have to deal with Averatec to correct the problem. Averatec has the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life. After two months I'm still waiting on a new ...

It does what i need it to do but like the previous review the battery died about a month after buying it. Will only work on AC power. I sent 5 emails to their customer service with no response. Made several attempts at calling the customer service to be sent to voice mail. The one time I was placed in a hold queue I waited over 45 minutes and gave up. The one person I did talk to on one call was rude and unprofessional. I gave up on trying to get the battery replaced and tried to purchase ...

I bought this netbook. You have to remove all 9 screws from the bottom, and carefully unsnap the bottom cover to upgrade memory. The motherboard has 1 gig of memory installed. I turned the on-board memory off in BIOS. I then installed a 2 gig chip I had bought with the laptop. It's a rocket. For the price. I installed MS Office by copy and paste the whole CD onto my USB stick. Good netbook, for the price.

I bought two laptops for my kids homeschooling. They are great, the battery is working good :) I runs XP, so 1GB is enoght; plus is portable. I also purchase two $69 16'' Monitors for each of them, so my kids can view better.
