Overload light with no load.
 
Same problem others have reported with overload light under no load. Out of warranty but this sounds like design flaw.

Reliably rock solid for 10 years straight!
 
I've used a BX1000 for about 10 years now and an RS1500 for about 7 years on my server/network connection. I've never had to replace the battery and never had a problem with the BX1000 until about a week ago after an extended power outage (18 hours) and trying to pull too much power from it while it was still recharging (by troubleshooting a memory issue and repeatedly rebooting my 900W PC). I received a red overload light with incessant beeping that didn't go away w/ a power cycle or battery

Junk with discharged batter
 
Bought this two days ago. Worked fine for two days. Now the battery is discharged and APC tech support is telling me "Tough Luck... I must not have plugged it in and left it turned off for long enough. Its my problem not theirs" The product is defective and the tech support is ineffective. This was VERY disappointing. I have had many good APC products and our company resells their products. I guess I'm going to have to start a re-evaluation of what we are selling & recommending to our clients.

APC XS 1000 UPS
 
I bought the APC XS 1000 UPS about 3 years ago. I live in Independence, Missouri where the power is fairly clean. However we get nasty thunder storms from time to time causing the UPS to go on battery a few times in 3 hours. I have had no problems with the unit until 9/2/11. I turned on my computer's power supply (550Watt) and the ups went into overload condition like described by others. I called the APC service and they said that if the unit goes into overload condition with no load then the
